One of the most important events of each year is the Annual Convention of the Knights and Sisters of Indiana. A time to become reacquainted with old friends and make some new friends, and enjoy time spent with others who have the same interests. It also gives us the opportunity to participate in the making of, or the revision of, our Statutes. Your ideas and opinions are valuable, but will not be heard if you are not in attendance. Also, there will be some new leadership elected. If you want to VOTE on the issues, or for the new officers, you must be present – there are no absentee ballots.

CONDOLENCES

To the family of Knight Ray O. Hall who passed away on June 1, 2009 in Cambridge City, Indiana. Brother Ray had been a member of Crescens Lodge #33 in New Castle for 48 years.

To the family of Sister Marjorie Vickrey, PDDGC, who passed away June 7, 2009 in Lizton, Indiana. Marge was a member of Lizton Temple #462. She was the widow of PGC Robert N. Vickrey, and the mother of Linda Randle.

To the family of PC Vincent L. Norris who passed away June 7, 2009 in Elwood, Indiana. Brother Vincent was a member of Frankton Lodge #315, and Al Hilal Temple #33 DOKK.

LODGE NEWS

Welcome Lodge #37 had a Friendship Night with 25 people in attendance from Frankton #315, Orestes #471, Crescens #33, and Welcome #37. Two prospects, Jaysn Murphy and Chris Maddy, made application for membership in #37. PGC Ron Murphy prepared a delicious meal which was enjoyed by all. The Euchre tournament was won by PGC Tom Alexander and PC Jerry Weilenman. Chris Maddy and Ralph Willis won the pool tournament. CC Rod Gardner thanked the food preparation and clean-up crews. Grand Chancellor James Smith, Jr. closed the festivities by thanking the Brothers of Welcome Lodge for hosting the event, and thanked everyone for participating.

Crescens Lodge #33 hosted a Three Rank Celebration in honor of Grand Chancellor James Smith, Jr. on June 14, 2009. Jaysn Murphy and Chris Maddy of Welcome Lodge #37, and Scott Lawhorn of Orestes Lodge #471 progressed through the three ranks that were given by a most impressive team from four Lodges – Welcome, Frankton, Orestes and Crescens. Including Grand Chancellor Smith, there were four Grand Lodge officers present. In addition there were nine Past Grand Chancellors, three Grand Tribunes, one District Deputy and seven Knights present. After the ceremony, a bountiful pitch-in dinner and visitation time was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to District IV for the big turnout in support of our Grand Chancellor.

In last month’s issue, in a note of thanks from PGC Dale Baldwin, he was listed as a member of Ashley Lodge #394. Brother Dale’s home Lodge is Orestes #471, and he is a dual member of Ashley. .
