LOCAL LODGE NEWS
Lizton Lodge #342 gathered for a catered dinner on Monday March 17, 2008 for
two members who had attained 50 years of membership. There were 38 Knights,
Sisters, relatives and friends in attendance to honor Floyd Garland and Glendon
Griffith. Brother Robert Porter's 79th birthday was also celebrated. There was
good food and good fellowship. The emcee for the evening was CC Lowell Pruett,
and Sec'y Gerald Randle handled all the dinner arrangements.

Crescens Lodge #33 finally held its 2nd Annual Table Lodge after 3 weeks of
weather delays. Some 23 Brethren from four different Lodges in District IV gathered
for this very unique meeting. CC Jerry Weilenman led the Lodge through long
form opening ceremonies, including singing of the opening Ode. The Lodge went
from labor to refreshment and enjoyed a delicious Lasagna dinner. This portion
concluded with the officers of Crescens leading the Brothers through several
toasts (grape juice), and the Lodge resumed its labor, closing in full ritualistic
form complete with the singing of the closing Ode and the National Anthem. Thanks
to Rev. James Lund for promoting the adoption of the Table Lodge concept. It
was a wonderful evening, and the Brothers are looking forward to another one
next year!

Greetings from the Smith family. We hope this letter finds you all well.
They say "If March comes in like lion it goes out like a lamb". I don't think they considered all the days in between. Many of those days were full of rain then snow then the sun. During the month it was my pleasure to attend many different Pythian events. First, there was a Table Lodge meeting on March 4th . After three attempts, the Brothers of Crescens Lodge finally pulled it off. My Brothers if you have never taken part in a meeting of this type you are truly missing a lot. Then there was District 4 Convention at Welcome Lodge on the 15th. A good convention followed by a very delicious barbequed rib meal with all the trimmings. March 25th found me, and my traveling companions, back at Crescens Lodge for their second annual "Degree of the Rusty Spike". The degree is a very informative session where you have a chance to learn things about our Order that maybe you thought you knew. You may even learn something new. March ended on a high note with two opportunities to enjoy Pythian fellowship. Ashley Lodge had a Friendship Pot Luck Lunch. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend that function. I do, however, plan to make it to Thorntown Lodge where the Brothers are hosting a Three Rank Day on March 29th. Looking forward to April's calendar, but it doesn't seem to be showing any signs of slowing.
Congratulations to all my Brothers across the state who put forth an effort to bring this Order back together and show the true meaning of Pythian fidelity.
Fraternally submitted,
Jim Smith, GVC

NEXT MONTH
Most of the Subordinate Lodges make a practice of giving money and time to several
charitable and civic organizations. In the April issue, we want to list the
donations of each Lodge, but we need to know who made donations, and in what
amount, and to whom. Please send in the information by April 25th so it can
be included.
